Relaaaaaaaaaaax

The other day for some reason I decided to really stay in present time as much as I could, while not actually doing anything. I was feeling quite at peace with my world and had no particular reason to stress about anything.

I relaxed into feeling very happy and content, lazing in a comfy chair under a bright window—tuning in to the moment. Then I became aware of subliminal, almost pre-verbal concerns… “is there something I should watch out for? Shouldn’t I be keeping a better lookout? Am I being careful enough? If I stay right in the present I might miss something I need to know about, or be thinking through”.

These barely-perceptible worries seemed to be basic cave-woman fears… “I’d better keep a watch-out or I might be in trouble”.

Birds Returning, Returning Birds

These blue wrens are visiting the mirrored small window beside the front door at my mother’s house, in the country.

Normally they flit around all parts of the house, but at this time of year they get very excited by their reflections in the window, and spend all day there.

Ice And Global Warming

A little while ago I had a mini “Iceberg Series”, and I thought I’d finish it off with a post about REAL icebergs. The other posts in the iceberg series are On Overcoming Obstacles followed by Think And It Shall Be So.

Many people are concerned about global warming, polar ice and sea levels, so I thought I’d write about some of the things I discovered about these when I was writing books about climate for the 8 to 10 years age group, over last (Australian) summer.

I am not covering the causes and extent of climate change here—that is done very well elswhere. This is just about the ice.

Is The World Getting Better Or Worse?

I’d like to suggest that for some people “the world” is getting better and better, and for others it is getting worse and worse. And that we get to choose which group we are in.

I’d imagine that anyone dropping by here would be firmly in the “getting better” camp, as far as their own personal life goes, anyway, but I thought I’d still like to write about this.

This is inspired by the fact I have a sore foot, and am starting to worry it will never get better. It has been really sore for about four months now, and apart from the intolerable agony (no, its not really that bad!), it has meant I can’t walk much, and I REALLY need the exercise.
