Love Gives Us Life

heart immortality

A couple of weeks ago Janni Lloyd wrote the following in a comment on this blog…

The more we open our hearts to each other, embrace our differences and, in so doing, love all aspects of ourself, the more aliveness our physical body has.

Thank you Janni for leaving these beautiful words! I’d like to explore this concept further, and this is how I see it… [Read more…]

Emotional Balance

I thought I’d like to write about what emotional balance means to me. As I mentioned in an earlier post Feelings Are There To Be Felt, I haven’t quite got emotions “worked out”. But I’ve needed to focus on mine lots so I reckon I should really be an expert by now. Ha.

In my younger days I was very withheld emotionally. No-one knew what I thought, or how I felt. I didn’t know how I felt. At school I was very quiet and awkward, and didn’t connect much. One time a group of kids made a list of everyone in the class, with a brief description, to submit to the school magazine. For me they put “Silent Brain”. I misread this and thought it said “Silent Drain”—I was extremely upset! (inside) (It didn’t make the magazine.)

The only time I felt love was for the cat.

Why We Want To Live

Grace from over at Face To The Sun recently made a stunningly beautiful list of things she would miss about life on Earth should she be relocated to Mars (as you do), in her post List of 100 things I’d miss on Mars. You might want to check it out!

To put my own spin on her list, I think it would make a good collection of reasons for loving life.

Reincarnation… A Scenario

Cleopatra480.jpg

I thought I’d write about my thoughts on reincarnation.

I never use the word “believe” when I talk about these sorts of things. I like to say “I work with the idea”, or “I think in terms of”… something like that. I think the real, actual truth is something beyond what most of us are capable of understanding at our present level of consciousness, so saying I believe in any particular thing would seem a bit silly to me.

So I like to say I work with the idea of reincarnation, because I find it is a useful concept. If a better concept comes along, I will drop it in a flash in favour of the new concept.

Just as one example of how the concept could become outmoded… many of us like to try to live in the present moment, after being inspired by The Power of Now and lots of other writings on the subject. I like the idea, that I picked up somewhere, that time actually does not exist—time is an illusion that got invented to teach us to use the present moment better. If this is the case, the past does not exist… all the past and our past lives must be happening consecutively right now in the eternal present moment. We are both ourselves and Cleopatra at the same time! This reasoning could get very messy very quickly so I’ll stop right here… my point is that we just don’t know (in my opinion).

Living Forever

I want to do a post that clarifies my philosophy about living forever, so here goes…

By “living forever” I mean living indefinitely in our physical body—no death, no funeral. I’m not talking about living on after physical death in some sort of after-life form.

I have always thought our true identity, whatever we want to call it (spirit, soul, etc), continues on forever… whether or not we are in physical form. I know not everyone comes from that perspective—it’s just what I have always thought since I was young.
