I just ordered this book now via your site..., and added the one by Caroline Myss too. It's been a long time since I've read a self help book (since I had to practice more and read less. LOL)..., so I think I'm in for a double treat!
Cheers!

Hi Akemi - actually, it has been a point of difficulty for me in reading blogs that are "explaining" we are more than our bodies - to me this has always been a given and I can't relate to not thinking it (and they usually talk about how wonderful death is, to do it). And "utilize your soul" implies the primary identity is with the body.

So I relate to what you are saying - and it sounds like it would be better if he just spoke his truth.

I'm half way through the book and I'm honestly a bit disappointed. While the book has many great points, they are covered up with politically correct terms, so the overall tone lacks clarity and audacity.

My biggest issue with the book is how it treats the soul. He talks as if there are "you" and "your soul" and you can learn how to utilize your soul. (while at the same time, he says you are the soul.)

I think the book is useful for those who never thought they are spiritual beings in the physical bodies. I actually don't think Deepak Chopra thinks in these terms, but he does make things very confusing.

@Giovanna - hi Giovanna - yes, although I haven't read any of Deepak's books, I have seen him in videos and read bits and pieces elsewhere, and have a great deal of respect for him. Hope you enjoy it!
@Chris - ha ha - you make me laugh, Chris. I noticed that, too.
@sookie - hi there sookie and welcome to this blog! And thanks for the contributions. The various traumas and patterns you describe are similar to ones rebirthers deal with in rebirthing - and I also think "the perceived separation trauma from Source" is a significant factor causing aging. Blessings to you, too!
@SnaggleTooth - hiya ST - if you read it, I'd be interested to hear what you thought.
@ElderGuru - hi there ElderGuru and welcome! It must seem a bit odd to land on this blog and find the statement "aging doesn't have to happen" - but this is a central theme over here, this blog being about physical immortality and all. Cheers!

Hello Robin,

I love your blog!

I am convinced that traumas are at the basis of the aging process, especially womb and ancestral trauma.
There may be other mechanisms as well, I don't know if you are familiar with the books Peak State of Consciousness vol 1 and vol 2by Grant McFetridge Ph.D his work on trauma and behaviour and peak states is remarkable
In the first book he shortly mentions that when we go through our first contraction in the womb we subconsciously decide how long do we want to live
He works on trauma by experiencing it but a friend of mine has mentioned to me something called RPT that works with trauma in a painless and lightning speed way, I might give it a try, for now I've been using EFT mostly

Also Grant mentions a mechanism called tribal block, though not in regard to aging, but I think it can be one of the mechanisms
Tribal block is when an energetical pressure not to change because "it has always been this way in our family/group" is felt and as it relates to changing one's status or station in life and obtaining peak states I guess it applies to aging too

Another mechanism I think are soul decisions between lives, I love Michael Newton's work
I believe the soul is traumatized as well by default by the perceived separation trauma from Source and that has a strong influence and needs to be reframed

About Chopra, I have Ageless Body but I never got around to read it yet!

Blessings!

Thanks for this Robin. I couldn't help but notice Deepak is looking pretty hip in his new promo photos. Not that this is the reason I'm going to buy the book.
